"It is the east, and Juiet is the sun"

I was reading this blog called fashionphotographyblog.com. It is a blog by a fashion photographer named Melissa Rodwell, who talks about fashion photography. Though she does not update often, her photos are exquisite. Also, there is a section of "photos of the week" that features other photographers work.

My personal favorite that I saw was a shoot inspired by romeo and juliet

shopping with allison

these are some pictures from a shopping trip with my good friend allie (she has a really neat blog too, http://www.allisonduke.tumblr.com/). we didnt buy anything, but we did alot of admiring.

OUTERWEAR

1. red military jacket (ralph lauren) 2. fur vest (im not exactly sure, but i want to say michael kors) 3. studded blazer (aqua) 4. black jacket (madewell) 5. pink peacoat (j crew) 6. layered cardigan (club monaco)

I wish all men dressed like this. it reminds me somewhat of a sweater nate wore to the white party in season 2 gossip girl(club monaco).

i loved the knotted back of this jumpsuit from banana republic

shoes and thangs

I was just surfin the web(specifically, barneys.com) and found some note worthy items.

SHOES

Prada- these look super comfortable, and im really liking the suede. Its nice to see an alternative version of heels opposed to the the over the knee hunting boots seen in the Fall 09 collection. I can see how the platform of this shoe is inspired by that idea though.

Yves Saint Laurent-I love how the platform is smaller than the actual shoe itself, it kindof adds an architectural element to the shoe. gahh to me shoes are so much like sculptures rather than a mere "covering for the foot". yehh corny i know

Proenza Schouler- so i was looking at this shoe and was diggin it, and then i realized it looks like a high heeled bowling shoe, and busted out laughing. i guess you could say that ruined the idea of this shoe for me.

PURSES

Givenchy-i love the leather its made of. i have no idea what it is, and have never seen leather like that before, but it is beautiful. it reminds me of granite almost.

Lanvin-darling, its just darling.

Inspriation: Etta Place

Lindy and I were watching Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and at one point in the movie we both turned to each other and simultaneously thought, 'Etta Place is so spectacular with her clothes.' (Katharine Ross plays Etta Place)
Etta just has this way about her that is really pure but confident. I was so excited to see her in the next scenes to see what she would be wearing.

LOTSA FASHION LOVE

short break from blog posting

but anyways

i was readin up on jane n' judy and saw the link to stylecaster.com and i decided to check it out. its actually a really cool website. and the video on the home page is fantastic. so getchoo an account to stylecaster real soon.

secondly, about a month ago i went to new york for a quick college trip. here are some pictures, some fashion related and others not so much.

the store front of bergdorfs i believe

these are some jackets at a vintage market that i went i believe on west 77th right by central park
i think i might want to purchase myself a fur jacket soon, they are so beautiful but it might be too much for atlanta to handle. i wish everyone here was as bold as new yorkers are.

all of the stands had really great scarves, cameos, and purses for decent prices. i am now the owner of a vintage silk valentino dress, but the thing needs some serious work, so claire go-to man for fixen clothes is gonna hook me up soon i hope.

me and the brotha chillen outside of the market. i got the sequin jacket at topshop during the trip.

tribute to sea of shoes, i call this the lindy and anne meal. we went out to eat after shopping in soho at balthazar, one of our favorites when we go to new york. this french onion soup was divine

Claire's Spring 2010 Favorites

This spring offers a whole new splash of new trends.
I have a few favorite collections this spring.

First, Christian Dior.
I really loved how Galliano made very classic but edgy day looks and super vamped up the evening gowns. Day looks were mostly based off of polished neutrals. The character he created was a very confident, provocative woman.

Cynthia Rowley.
It was interesting to me how her collection for spring was flowy but also had structure beneath it, whether that was achieved with a belt or a blazer. Also loved her beige lace-up booties with black stockings. Her looks were effortlessly stylish.
From style.com: "The idea is something that's both scary and pretty," Cynthia Rowley said of her Spring concept. "Things are out of focus and starting to unravel."

Lanvin.
They are always on my list of favorites. I really liked Alber Elbaz's use of drapery and pleating in the collection this spring. and the carnation candy colors paired with neutrals.

Rochas.
Marco Zanini's second collection for Rochas was very different and successful. His overload of color and prints for spring really put on a show for the audience. I fell in love with the flowered belts. I was also very excited to see lots of high-waisted garments, because that is my particular favorite trend.

And a much needed mention to Proenza Schouler's shirt-dress for spring.
amazing.

SCAD summer seminars-lindy

SCAD!!! what an amazing week. i wouldnt be lying if i said it was the best week of my summer. so my 2 classes i took were fashion and figure drawing. the fashion class was fantastic. i met the coolest people there. for me, the best part was to be able to meet people like myself; those who live and breathe fashion. and up to that point claire was the only other i had talked to. my figure drawing class was hilarious to say the least. my model( a 70 year old man wearing running shorts and a tank top) might have been the cutest thing i have ever seen.

jus doin some modeling for claire, ya know.
im wearing a dress from h&m, the belt is thrifted, and the shoes(below also) are from nine west

SHOEZZ

this is the fashion room, quite an amazing place. my friend kates drawing is in the picture. i learned so much in this class. every day, my friends and i would guess what our teacher's assistant, tahnee, would be wearing. she is going to be famous some day soon, i swear. tahnee would come in wearing an ahhhdorable pencil skirt and heels. and our teacher lora wolf, used the word fierce in every other sentance. gahh how i love fashion people.

the girls:
ariana is on the right, she was in fashion and jewelry design, which sounded like a super cool class. kate and kathleen are in the middle. theyre my long lost sisters, no jokes at all. kathleen and i ARE going to parsons next summer. i have never been more excited about anything in my life.
im wearing a dress that i got at vacation( a really cool thrift store up the street) when i first saw it it was long and had a 40's housewife look to it, but my friend roxy helped me hem it one night and now its one of my new favs.

this is my drawing for the exhibition at the end of the week. hopefully some day i will be able to actually sew the dresses that i draw.

aghhh i know this post is freaking long, BUT i have more to say. currently atlanta is melting because of the heat. still, in the back of my head i am dreaming of 1. FASHION WEEK! holler. 2. the scarves and coats and boots that i will soon be able to wear. i am such a sucker for f/w clothes.

my essentials for this fall
1. leather jacket, i have dreamed of getting one for a while, and i finally purchased one, its grey and fabulous
2. over the knee boots, although theyre not mine yet, i have my eye peeled out for some. i envision suede. ahhh NICE.
3. berets. theyre just so cute. i know everyone was wearing the floppy ones last fall. and i will still wear them, but a nice classy french looking wool beret is what im thinking of.
4.ever since i have been stalking BALMAINS s/s 09 line, i have been dying for a millitary jacket. since $11,000 is a hefty price for one, i purchased a different one from KAREN MILLEN at lenox.

sorry for all the blabbing, i will have lots more to say now that i can finally wear my own clothes to school. ahhhhhh

xoxo, lindy
